We start the class with Chapter 1. The objectives are to recognize the importance of computer literacy Second, define the term computer and identify its components. Third, explain why a computer is a powerful tool. Fourth, recognize the purpose of a network. Fifth, discuss the uses of the Internet and the World Wide Web. Sixth, distinguish between installing and running a program. Seventh, identify the types of software. Eighth, describe the categories of computers. Ninth, determine now the elements of an information system interact. Tenth, identify the types of computer users. Eleventh, discuss various computer application in society.
What is computer literacy?
Literacy is the knowledge and understanding of computers and their uses. It also means that computers are everywhere.
How is computer defined?
An electronic device operating under the control of instructions stored in its own memory. Computer also use to accept data (input), process data into information, produces and stores result (output).
What is information processing data?
Information processing cycle consists of input, process, output, storage and communication.
What is an input?
Hardware used to enter data and instructions.
What is output device?
Hardware that produces information.
What is the system unit (chesis)?
Box-like case containing electronic components used to process data.
2 main components
First, CPU @ processor - carries out instructions that tell computer what to do. Second, memory - temporary holding place for data and instructions.
What is storage?
Storage is used to hold data, instructions and information for future use. Storage can be divided into two. First, storage media - physical material on which data, instructions, and information are stored. Second, storage device - records and retrieve items to and from a storage medium.
Storage media is a portable, thin memory cards used in digital camera and handheld computers.
What is a floppy disk?
A floppy disk is a thin, circular and flexible disk enclosed in rigid plastic shell.
What is a flash drive?
The same use as floppy disk but provides much greater storage capacity that floppy disk.
What is a hard disk?
The same use as floppy disk and flash drive but provides much greater storage capacity that floppy disk and flash drive.
What is compact disk?
The same use as floppy disk,flash drive and hard disk but provides much greater storage capacity that floppy disk, flash drive and hard disk.

What makes a computer powerful?
The power of a computer can be determined by its storage, reliability and consistency, speed, accuracy and communication.
What is a network?
A network can be defined as a collection of computers and devices connected together.
Communication device enables a connection between computers by using a modem / router.
Communication media consists of cables, telephone lines, microphone, satellites, and cellular radio.
What is the reason to network?
Use to share resources, hardware devices, software programs, data and information. Besides, can save time and money.
What is a server?
A server used to manage the resources on a network. Thus, a client can accesses the resources on the server.
What is the Internet?
Internet referred to world wide collection of networks that connects millions of computers.
Why do users access the internet?
Users access the Internet for communication, find information, shopping, banking and investing, classes and entertainment.
What is the web?
Web is billions of documents, called web pages, available to anyone connected to the Internet. A website is a collection of related web pages. A webpage contains text, graphics, sound, video and links to other web pages. Users also can share information by creating web page or posting photos on a photo community.
Reflection
Today's lesson gave me a lots of information about this subject-information and communication technology. Everything that we learned today were noted at above (summary of learning). All students get full understanding about this chapter as well, I guess... Hopefully, these notes which we get from Puan Zakiah can help us to face the quizzes on the next class. =D
